The Teatro Sin Fronteras / Theater without Borders is a project that José Torres-Tama developed back in 2015 to present the work of Latin artists in New Orleans, and to highlight their many contributions to the post-Katrina Arts Renaissance.
Also, TSF 2015 offered a cultural platform for Latin American immigrant activists to speak to the often unspoken contributions thousands of immigrants made to the physical epic reconstruction of New Orleans in the many years since the great flood.
The 2015 Teatro Sin Fronteras events presented some 65 Latin artists, poets, performers, dancers, and musicians in a seven-part Performance Salon Series over five months from May to August 2015.
The Ashé Cultural Arts Center, the Shadowbox Theatre, and the NPN Arts Estuary hosted the various shows.
TSF 2015 was supported by an Alternate ROOTS' Partners in Action Grant & in a community partnership with PUENTES New Orleans.
Late Night Talk Show Format & Monthly Podcast
This new monthly show is developed by José Torres-Tama & ArteFuturo Productions.
The inter-disciplinary award-winning performance artist opens each show with a comedic five-minute monologue & poetic excerpts from his many solo shows. He comments on the political nature of the present moment, as we negotiate an overdue racial reckoning in the nation & a post-pandemic New Orleans landscape.
Each show will be transformed into an hour-long monthly Podcast to offer greater access beyond the physical borders of New Orleans via the web and other platforms. More to come on podcast.
